Proud to partner with such a reputable company who stands by their product & service with a 3 year on-site warranty 🤝At Eagle Security Systems we believe in the philosophy of “You get what you pay for” with so many companies installing security systems at cheap prices it’s a good idea to make sure they are licensed and even ask for some photos of their previous work. After all, saving a couple of hundred dollars could cost you even more if you’re home or business is broken in to and the alarm doesn’t activate or the CCTV footage is poor quality. ... NBN Warning

The NBN may already be in your area and you are considering conversion or you may soon be advised that it is available.  There have been numerous cases reported of unscrupulous marketing that has left alarm owners with unexpected costs and a lack of security.

Are you aware of certain ramifications to your security if you convert to NBN without appropriate preparation?

Unfortunately, people have been pressured or misled into NBN Conversion by sales people who neglect to share all aspects, leaving them without an operational alarm and threats of litigation if they try to cancel their agreement.

Alarm communication is NOT easily transferred with your land-line phone to NBN although phone companies do not discuss all aspects of the NBN roll-out when they want you to “sign-up”.  They may not offer options for alarm communication or take extra costs into account.

There is NO urgency to change your current communication arrangement.  You will be given at least 18 months warning, before you need to do anything – Be patient, do your own research and wait until AFTER checking all available options.

 WARNINGS

  • Security alarmsImportant – call your security alarm provider to find out if your device is compatible before moving to the nbn™ network.  The rollout of the nbn™ network will involve new technologies and some existing devices may not be compatible with these at all times”.
  • What happens in a power blackout? Equipment connected over the nbn™ network will not work during a power blackout”. What’s the point of an alarm without battery backup?  What will happen if your lines are cut?

Talk to us BEFORE your land-line is replaced by NBN or another ‘naked’ type alternative so we can help you maintain your security at the lowest possible cost.

A further reminder about fake tradies going around. Thanks to NHW VictoriaWe have received reports of fake tradies, who are targeting elderly and vulnerable residents. So be on guard and warn elderly relatives, friends and neighbours. These dodgy tradesmen will approach you in your garden or knock on your door and offer services like roof repairs, house painting, tree cutting or driveway resurfacing at cheap prices or “today only” specials. They may even show you a flyer that looks legit. They use aggressive tactics to get your cash up-front and then disappear with your money, leaving you with shoddy or unfinished work and no way to contact them.

If you suspect someone may be a fake tradie, ask for their full name and registration or licence details, which you can then check with their industry authority. Do not make any agreement with them until you or someone you trust can check them out thoroughly. Record as much information about them as you can, including their appearance and vehicle registration number and report them to your local police or the national travelling con men hotline on 1300 133 408. Find out more information about fake tradies at www.consumer.vic.gov.au/faketradies

Looks like it is on again so be careful of roof tradies. Info courtesy of Eyewatch KNOXPlease be aware of Roof scammers in Rowville and surrounding areas. Two males were posing as roof tradies and approached an 88 year old male stating his roof tiles appeared loose/needing repair and requested to have a look.

The alleged tradies then stated there was water in the roof and showed the owner a pool of water in the roof space. It is alleged the men poured this water from a container to make it appear like a leak. A large deposit was requested to fix and when this was paid, the men left.

Police are advising that you check trades person's credentials and that you do not engage with any door to door sales/trades persons. If in doubt obtain their information and ask a trusted friend/relative to give you a hand.

Kids are back at school NOW comes the reduced speed limitsSchool's back this week for most students across Victoria. So that means school speed zones and school crossings are also back in operation. Take particular care when driving or riding near schools, slow down and obey all signs and signals. And if you're walking to school, look both ways before crossing the road, take care when crossing and be sure to cross only when the pedestrian light facing you is green or the school crossing supervisor indicates that it's safe to do so. Have a great year at school! Let's watch out for each other. ... See MoreSee Less

A timely reminder to check your premises prior to leaving homeLocking your doors and windows, even when you're home, is a simple way to minimise the risk of your home being a target for thieves. Between 1 October 2017 and 30 September 2018 there were 5,815 home burglaries in Victoria where thieves entered through unlocked doors and windows. While we may love to leave a door or window open in the summer heat, the opportunistic thief loves us to do it too. Check out more tips on how to prevent home burglaries at bit.ly/2Rtj78r ...
