Crime affects the wellbeing of individuals and families. In Australia, high crime rates are often associated with unemployment, amongst other associated reasons.
Restrictions and lockdown have impacted the way we navigate unemployment. In August 2020, Bureau of Statistics data estimated more than a million Australians were unemployed in early July, up by nearly 16,000 from the previous month. That pushed the official unemployment rate up to 7.5 per cent, the highest level since November 1998.
